Pooling resources – for a pediatric high-performance center

The INITIATIVE für Unsere Kinder- und Jugendklinik Freiburg is promoting the construction of a new pediatric high-performance center that will unite the resources of the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg, the Pediatric Department of St. Josef’s Hospital and the emergency headquarters of SHI pediatricians.

The new Freiburg model will be unique and exemplary on a supra-regional scale. We are presenting the concept of a pediatric clinic of the 21^st century fostering health, recovery and development far beyond simple medical care. Covering emergency treatment as well as out-patient care and in-patient stays, from the premature baby up to the young adolescent. In patient-oriented and health-promoting spaces, within interlinked social and psychosocial facilities, embedded in interpersonally and economically reasonable structures. Its location will be behind the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology alongside the Breisacher Straße.
